What Affiliate Marketers Can Learn From Reboots
Reboots are nothing new. Studios have been doing it for decades. Recently, CBS announced that they were going to reboot The 4400. The CW just rebooted Charmed.
This doesn’t even count reimaginings and continuations. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is getting a new continuation series. The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a reimagining of sorts.
Some people love these concepts and some hate them, thinking they’re Hollywood’s way of avoiding the fact they don’t have any new and original ideas.
What can affiliate marketers learn from reboots and how can they replicate the method of success behind them.
If It Ain’t Broke
In a lot of ways, Battlestar Galactica far surpassed the success of the original show. What do we, as affiliate marketers need to take away from this?
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. If something is working for you and working well, don’t tinker with it. Don’t mess around. Don’t try to optimize.
It’s the things that are broken that you need to play with. Think about the weaknesses of your campaigns or niche sites. How can improving them benefit you and bring in more revenue?
Are you struggling with social media? Then look into a part-time social media specialist. Do you need help with SEO? Then start shopping around for SEO services.
Identify your weak points and attack them. Leave the stuff that’s working well alone.
If It Worked Once, It Can Work Again
Why is Joss Whedon making a continuation series for Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
Because it was one of the most successful shows of its era. It has millions of fanboys and fangirls, even to this day. Making a new series is not just going to bring back old fans, but it’s also going to attract younger people who are ready to see what all of the fuss was about.
You should use this method as many other successful affiliate marketers have done in the past. We’ve all made niche websites. Some of us give up when the first one doesn’t work out and other people persevere. They find that one thing that makes a site successful and then they replicate.
Once you find out that magic formula, you can make new sites with the same formula and tweak it to fit your needs. Then you can interconnect all of your sites together for shared traffic. It’s a snowball effect that can make you a ton of cash.
Wrapping It Up
Making a niche site or putting up affiliate links is easy. But bringing in sales and traffic is another beast.
Being an affiliate marketer is easy. Anyone can do it. But being good at it and making a living with it is one of the hardest things you’ll ever do.
Think about your business like other successful businesses and find a way to replicate their success.
